Your attitude today is a function of the future you create

I just got off the phone with a very powerful executive who’s in charge of billions.  Several weeks ago he admitted that he was spending most of his day being angry about a certification that he had signed up to receive.  The certification was important.  It will give him even more credibility in his industry but he was pissed off every time he studied.

“I’m resisting it.  I signed up for it.  I don’t have to do it and I hate every minute of it.” he told me.

My thought process on this is simple:  What is the future you are trying to avoid?  Because if you feel bad about it today, The Drunk Monkey (your mind) is spending time fantasizing about a negative future.

He replied, “I am afraid I will take this test and not pass it.  Then I will have wasted a lot of my time for nothing.  Plus I will feel like a failure.  Plus I hate this subject and I don’t even know why I decided to get this certification” and on and on he went.

“Is that what you are committed to?” I asked him.  Of course his answer was no.

“What is the best possible outcome?” I asked him.  He told me a glorious story of victory and recognition.

The Life Coaching process is often just helping the client see the same thing in a more empowering context.  He got it and it changed everything.

When I spoke with him today, he was on fire.  “I’m studying, I’m doing what it takes and it feels great!  I know I’m going to pass.  I’m doing it because I said I would do it and I know how to do hard things.  I’m not going to let my monkey mind run the show!” he said to me today.

He went on to say, “It’s bizarre!  All I did was change my point of view.  A few weeks ago I would spend all day lamenting the fact that I had to go home and study for this test.  When I would get home I would spend several hours avoiding it.  When I finally went into my home office to study, I felt like a prisoner.  Today I am enjoying the process.”

Your attitude today is a function of the future you are present to.

Is there anything you are lamenting or feeling upset about?  What is the future you are allowing The Drunk Monkey (your mind) to avoid?  What is the future you are truly committed to?

Head Trader Finds Inspiration When Everyone is Falling Apart

I just got off the phone with one of my very powerful clients.  He manages billions for a prominent fund.  When his boss sent an email saying “We’re going down in flames!”, my client responded with more power then he had ever expressed.

In the past my client would have been cautious about his response and probably held back a little.  But after a couple months of Inspired Action Coaching his response even surprised him.  In his mind, his response was a bold push back.  But his boss’ response was amazing!  My client’s email was circulated around the entire company and a special meeting was held to discuss the ideas he presented in his email.  This was a first.  As long as he could remember he was in the background wondering if he would ever be truly appropriated for his contribution.

I asked him “What has changed?”  His response was simple, “I am inspired.  I am feeling more fearless then ever.  My thoughts are important and I had to express them!”

Wow!  What a difference two months of coaching makes.  He’s only in the first phase of coaching which is the clean up phase.  He has been hard at work creating a new context for his life by seeing his past from a new point of view.  When you change your point of view, you change your actions.  When you change your actions you get new results.

I predict that the result of his new actions will lead him to a partnership position in one of the biggest funds in the world.  Stand by.  I’ll keep you posted.

No need to attract results, just get out of the way

You’ve heard of the law of attraction and you’ve used it.  Now you are going to get on the road to mastery of the Law of Attraction, okay?

The truth is, there is no need to learn the Law of Attraction.  You don’t have to learn how to attract the things that you want.  In fact, you are already attracting, whether you want to or not.

More importantly, you have to learn to be in harmony with what you have now and learn to be eager for what you want.

Attraction is natural, it is happening all the time.

You must learn to allow what you want in.

It’s just that when you are associated with The Drunk Monkey (my nickname for the mind) you focus on survival aspects of life that make you feel fear, doubt, uncertainty, anger, pain, suffering and being the victim.  When you are feeling negative emotions, you attract what you don’t want.

And when you are stoked, lit up, thrilled, enjoying, happy, satisfied, eager and open, you attract what you do want.  Pretty simple.  But not easy.  You are wired to feel bad.

It all begins with knowing what you want.

1.  What do you want?  Have you written it down today?  Even if you write down what you want on a piece of scrap paper right now, it will be infinitely more powerful than if you don’t.

2.  Look at everything in your life with gratitude.  Expand what works in your life by focusing on it.  What you focus on expands.

3.  Create more of what you want in your life by looking at what you don’t want and being grateful that it’s there to teach you what you do want.

4.  Be sure to track your miracles in your journal.  Or you can report them on the miracle hot line here: http://members.AudioGenerator.com/st1.asp?c=769204&P=Report+Your+Miracles

5.  Convince your mind that you are a powerful creator by noticing and reporting unexpected, unexplainable good fortune today.
