Why Law of Attraction Does Not Work

A lot of people ask me why the law of attraction doesn’t work for them. I’ve investigated this a lot, not only in my own personal life with all of my own experimentation, but I’ve also investigated it with thousands and thousands of other coaching clients, where I’m working with them one on one, and they’re saying, “Matthew, why is it that I want this, but I keep getting that?”

What they want is usually success, and what they keep getting is failure. And what it comes down to is probably the most breakthrough ideas that I’ve come across.

It’s called the fundamental misperception. So consider this. Years ago, you accepted false conclusions as correct. You began to live your life as if those warped ideas about your potential were true. And you completely killed off the experiment called life and you started to live within a hallucinated set of boundaries, boundaries that don’t even exist.

Now what happens is you will only manifest and create within those boundaries, and so your goals and dreams are outside of the boundary. But you keep coming up against this lid, this invisible barrier, and the invisible barrier is a foundational belief that you have about yourself that is not true. Fundamental misperception.

For example, no matter how smart you get, you feel stupid. Other people have this feeling like they’re ugly, so they try to be glamorous and look good and show the world how beautiful and amazing and wonderful they are. Yet no matter how much stuff they have, no matter how much they do with themselves, they still feel ugly. These are the people who get addicted to doing plastic surgery and getting a new wardrobe and shopping and all of that.

I want to help you get away from this and avoid it. By being aware of this, you become flexible. The flexibility reveals new options, and those options give you power. The power to create your own life.

How To Stay Focused on Success

I received a question in from one of my clients that said, “How do I stay focused on success, Matthew, when I’m just sick and tired of waiting for it?” And the answer is actually very simple. First of all, you must begin to acknowledge everything that has already occurred. You’ve already come so far, and you don’t acknowledge it.

There’s so much to your success that you’re already used to so you don’t notice it. Therefore, you’re not grateful. And there’s a reason for that. We’re not grateful because the mind’s job is to find things about us and about the world and about life that are potentially dangerous.

And so your mind is constantly saying, “Okay. I’m glad you’re successful. But what about that? What about this? That’s wrong. And this is wrong.” If you really pay attention to the drunk monkey in your head, it is totally focused in on how you are wrong.

So in order to get back to that renewed, rejuvenated place, you must get grateful. Now, what I recommend is that you do the 10 – 10 visualization process. Every night before you go to bed, I want you to just close your eyes and envision 10 things that you love about your life, and then 10 goals and dreams that are exciting to you.

Success is a progressive realization of a worthwhile goal. So success is not an outcome. You don’t get there. The moment you’re there, you already want something else.

So what you want to do is get grateful, get happy now. Every night before you go to bed, envision all the things you’re grateful for. Feel that gratitude. And then I want you to think about the things you want to create, your goals and dreams. And when you do that, it will blow you away how much happier and fulfilled you’ll be with today, which gives you energy to make tomorrow better.

You Need to Fail to Learn

I got this great little saying, and it says, “A kite rises against the wind.” I think it’s so important for each of us to realize that if we’re going to experience joy, fun and enthusiasm while in the success process, we’ve got to recognize that there needs to be contrast. The pushing against, the destruction and the chaos that happens in our life is truly the most important part of our entire success process.

You never learn anything when you succeed. You learn when you’re failing. You learn when you’re falling. You learn when you’re screwing up. So really engage the idea that you’re going to fail. You’re going to fall down. Get up, brush yourself off, learn that lesson, and keep going.

And I want you to practice going like this. Like, woo-hoo, that was awesome! Because it really is awesome that you are learning.

Pain and Suffering Causes Growth

If you didn’t have pain and suffering, you wouldn’t grow. If you didn’t have pain and suffering, you wouldn’t know what isn’t working. You wouldn’t know what beliefs you have, or what you don’t support. The pain and the suffering that you experience in your life is really just you resisting the situation.

How you interpret a situation is your opinion. Did you even invent your opinion? No. You were conditioned like a dog to believe the way you believe. This is how you poop. Here’s where you pee. And this is how you get dressed. You walk like this and move like this and talk like this. You are just a puppet of the conditioning that you have received.

Consider you’ve never made any choices about what you really want your life to be. That all of your choices that you supposedly made have been influenced by what you were conditioned to believe early on is the right way to operate. Let go of some of that today. Know that your growth is where the pain and the suffering is.

So start to get excited about it. Start to get thrilled when you experience, when you come up against the wall, when you come up to something in your world that isn’t working. I just want you to say, “Yeah! This is it. I’m about to grow. Somethin’ good’s gonna to happen.” Try that and see what happens.

Hard Work is a Myth

Work is not hard. Hard work is a myth. Now, work might be difficult. You might not understand how to do it. It might take more effort than you’re used to exuding, but the actual work is not hard.

What makes work hard is that you resist it. If you want to experience inspiration and joy in the process of achieving your goals and dreams, then you need to let go of resisting your work and just know that what you are doing is part of the process. Everything is part of the process; the tough part and the hard parts.

That’s just part of the process. Is work hard? No. It’s only hard when you resist it. What if you began to get joy out of the hard parts? Then it would no longer be hard work, would it? So, hard work ultimately is just an opinion that you have about the work that you’re doing. If you’re committed, like I am, to experiencing joy and peace and love and exuberance and enthusiasm while at work, then choose to resist nothing.

Need a Confidence Boost?

A great way to boost your confidence it is to be grateful. It can help big time. What being grateful does is that it gets you focus in on the truth, and the truth will set you free. The truth is life-giving and it will bolster your energy. What is false will actually bring you down, and for most people, we don’t actually know that our mind, the drunk monkey, is really focused on what is false. So the drunk money is constantly looking at what doesn’t work; what it doesn’t like; what is wrong with you; what’s wrong with other people, and it’s doing this tactically as a survival mechanism.

The mind’s job is to help you stay alive longer, so pointing out ways that you’re no good, the mind feels, “Well, that’s a great way to get you to start focusing on ways to get better.” But it doesn’t work like that. You become what you think about, so what you want to do is you want to spend time focusing on what works; what you like; what you’re excited about; what you’re happy about; what feels good. Having that mindset actually brings life to you; brings energy. Your confidence will soar. Your self esteem will rise because you’re aligning yourself with the energy of truth, and gratitude is nothing more than truth.
