What To Do When Things Don’t Manifest

Originally posted May 14, 2010

I’m sitting in row 20 seat E.  That’s the middle seat at the back of the plane.  This morning, not knowing what seat my assistant had booked me for this trip I wrote in my intentions, rather spontaneously, “I am so thankful to the universe for providing me with first class seats on the way up and back to Seattle this week… or something better!”

This isn’t normally something I spend too much time manifesting as I practice being in a state of Ridiculous Bliss where ever I am, regardless of the circumstances.  But I know what my clients would say, “Where is your manifesting now, Mr. Smarty Pants?”  The answer is easy and complex.

The easy answer is that something better is on its way and at this very moment I have no idea what it is.  The complex answer is that this situation is apparently better for all.  Now that I say it, I can see that I am writing about this experience, which is a contribution to the global understanding of The Law of Attraction and the power to manifest.  It’s also giving me a a chance to be in a state of perfection as I’m squished into my seat, elbows tucked tightly into my sides computer screen tilted slightly down so that I can barely see it because the person in front of me has their seat all the way back.

The complex answer is that I cannot possibly understand the state of perfection that I’m in.  The Drunk Monkey in my head has only my five senses to bring in information to which it correlates its past experiences and comes up with a hypothesis, a hallucination about what this moment is and what it will be.  The truth is much broader and more expansive then I could ever possibly imagine.  The Drunk Monkey can only speculate that because its expectations have been broken and that the seat is less comfortable then other seating arrangements, that something must be wrong and NOW is not good.

If I allow The Drunk Monkey to run the show I don’t feel good.  Instead, I  meditate, focus on what I’m grateful for, appreciate the design of the plane, appreciate the backs of the heads that I can see, notice how interesting the two very “engrossed in their own stuff” people are to my left and right.  I will find the joy in this moment via the most powerful state I know… Appreciation.  When I stay committed to being in a good place no matter what the circumstances are, everything turns out better than The Drunk Monkey could have imagined.

Is Using The Law of Attraction to Attract Money Stupid?

If I hear another person say “I’m going to attract a million dollars this year” I’m going to puke! It’s ridiculous.

Can you attract millions of dollars? Yes!

Will YOU attract one million dollars this year?

Probably NOT, here’s why…

If you keep making the same mistakes everyone else makes, you’ll feel like a dog chasing its tail… a hamster on a wheel… or a grandma in a rocking chair… lots of action that gets you nowhere. That’s why…

I’m doing a live video broadcast on the 7 Mistakes Everyone Makes Using the Law of Attraction because I want to teach you how to get in the flow and attract what you want.

iPad 2 and The Law of Attraction

A few months back I put an iPad 2 on my manifestation list.  I love getting things for free :-)  Then I did the most powerful thing you can do when you want something new… Appreciate what you have!!  I really dove into my iPad one and made even better use of it.  I enjoyed it, loved on it and bragged about it.  Additionally, I admired the iPad 2 from a far.  I went to the store and played with it and didn’t allow myself to go into jealousy, just sincere  appreciation of how “Magical” it really was.

Two days ago, out of the blue my dad brought two iPad one’s over, out of the blue, to give to my middle boys.  He had just bought himself and his wife iPad twos.  When he arrived he realized it would create a conflict as my eldest boy felt left out.  So he offered to buy him a new one.  I intervened and suggested that my eldest boy should get my iPad one and asked if he would buy me the iPad 2.  Done.  Completely unexpected.  Completely fantastic.  Totally generous on his part.  Needless to say… check it off the list.  You never know how or when or why.  The key was appreciation.

What’s on your list?

Law of Attraction Miracle #1

The Law of Attraction is such an illusive concept.  After more then 2 decades of working with the idea of “Thoughts become things”, I finally have a grasp on this idea.  Which doesn’t mean that I can think of something and have it appear instantly :-)  What it means is that I can focus on something and eventually it shows up in some way or another.  Here’s a simple example.

The other day my new neighbors told us to come and meet them at the beach.  New to the area they picked the busiest beach with the biggest parking problem.  My wife imediately declined forcasting the issue.  I happily agreed and my two youngest boys were game too.  We left about an hour after they did which meant we were going to have to find them in the middle of the summer weekend chaos of Newport Peir.  On the way there I asked the boys to visualize a parking spot that made us all laugh at how perfect it was.  Then see us lazily walking up to the beach and magically happening upon our neighbors.  Secretly I knew the odds of either happening were very very very small.  But I put that Drunk Monkey talk aside and worked to get into a completely neutral state.  If it happened great, if not we would go to another beach with better parking.

We circled the small parking lot several times which took us nearly 30 minutes.  My 8 year old was starting to get annoyed and began complaining that we should just go to the next beach.  I told him to take a deep breath and watch his movie.  5 minutes later we pulled into an amazing spot, right in front.  We all laughed as envisioned.  Then walking to the beach we turned a corner to head onto the beach and who was standing there about to step foot on the beach themselves?  Our neighbors.

Moral of the story.  Create a back up plan that will fulfill your objective in a different way so that you aren’t attached.  Relax, take deep breaths and invest the time needed.  The more times we circled the parking lot, the better our odds.  The Law of Attraction concept is all about your attitude towards the circumstances leading up to the fulfillment of your desire.

Buddha Law of Attraction Quote

The Buddha said, “Buddha – by thought, the thing you want is brought to you. By action you receive it. To obtain your goal is when what you think what you say and what you do are in harmony.”
