Interesting article and responses. There is no right or wrong here just a matter of opinion based on our own beliefs, experiences and expectations. We are what we create for ourselves. There is mention in a few of the responses of the changes we are experiencing, (in life, in the world in General, In Wall Street) and to that I want to comment by way of adding an article to make you really think and consider.

Originally by Dr. Bob Moorhead - see http://www.snopes.com/politics/soapbox/paradox.asp

The Parodox of time

"The paradox of our time in history is that we have taller buildings but shorter tempers, wider Freeways , but narrower viewpoints. We spend more, but have less, we buy more, but enjoy less. We have bigger houses and smaller families, more conveniences, but less time. We have more degrees but less sense, more knowledge, but less judgment, more experts, yet more problems, more medicine, but less wellness.

We drink too much, smoke too much, spend too recklessly, laugh too little, drive too fast, get too angry, stay up too late, get up too tired, read too little, watch TV too much, and pray too seldom.

We have multiplied our possessions, but reduced our values. We talk too much, love too seldom, and hate too often.

We've learned how to make a living, but not a life. We've added years to life not life to years. We've been all the way to the moon and back, but have trouble crossing the street to meet a new neighbour. We conquered outer space but not inner space. We've done larger things, but not better things.

We've cleaned up the air, but polluted the soul. We've conquered the atom, but not our prejudice. We write more, but learn less. We plan more, but accomplish less. We've learned to rush, but not to wait. We build more computers to hold more information, to produce more copies than ever, but we communicate less and less.

These are the times of fast foods and slow digestion, big men and small character, steep profits and shallow relationships. These are the days of two incomes but more divorce, fancier houses, but broken homes. These are days of quick trips, disposable diapers, throwaway morality, one night stands, overweight bodies, and pills that do everything from cheer, to quiet, to kill. It is a time when there is much in the showroom window and nothing in the stockroom. A time when technology can bring this letter to you, and a time when you can choose either to share this insight, or to just hit delete...

Remember; spend some time with your loved ones, because they are not going to be around forever.

Remember, say a kind word to someone who looks up to you in awe, because that little person soon will grow up and leave your side.

Remember, to give a warm hug to the one next to you, because that is the only treasure you can give with your heart and it doesn't cost a cent.

Remember, to say, 'I love you' to your partner and your loved ones, but most of all mean it. A kiss and an embrace will mend hurt when it comes from deep inside of you.

Remember to hold hands and cherish the moment for someday that person will not be there again.

Give time to love, give time to speak! And give time to share the precious thoughts in your mind.

AND ALWAYS REMEMBER:

Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away."

Roya,

Thank you for your comment. I am in complete agreement with your sentiment. The country has undergone a major breakdown based on greed and selfishness. Where I differ ever so slightly is that Greg is not someone doing anything about anything other then saying what he thinks to a public that can not do anything about it. His article was self aggrandizing and gave no one any opportunity to own up to anything and do anything new or constructive. My point is very simple. Act, don't complain. If your actions don't produce the fruit, then decide what you "for" from there. Don't dwell on what you against or even fight against it. Keep moving forward, don't dwell on the past. Greg got resigned. That's not bad or wrong. If he didn't like it, he could have left and found the next thing he was for. Instead he choose to shout his complaint to the world. A world who can do nothing about it. Not very powerful.

Matthew, what a great conversation! I think everyone is right! Relative to their perspectives and what's going on in their lives.
I believe what Greg is demonstrating is raising his level of consciousness. Let's face it; our whole country is undergoing a huge breakdown just as the entire world. And it's happening because of greed and hunger for money and power and that's perfect because the breakthrough as you'd say will be even more huge. Let's not deny that our banking system, our health care system, the oil companies, etc... have been about themselves and that's why our economy tanked the way it did.
I say we need more people like Greg who WILL stand up for integrity and best interest of their clients before their own pockets first. Heck that's what you teach all the time and I love you for it. If we were to put ourselves in his shoes, going to work day in and day out in an environement that is all about company benefits and if "helping others" was our first priority, it would be very difficult to live with joy in such environment even if WE did right.
I command you for coaching the 20 people at Goldman Sacks and I'm sure with continued coaching you will even help them change the culture and raise the level of consciousness of this once great company!
I think instead of making him wrong for focusing on the negative, we can commend him for becoming aware of what he doesn't want anymore, and looking for what it is that he wants and taking inspired action.

Kindest Regards,

Tom, it is great to hear from you. Thank you so much for bringing your wisdom to my blog! Like you, Greg is a very powerful person who would expand his power with some fun new interesting insights about the nature of interpretation.
