Get Over Your Fear of Goals

I was working with a client recently, and she said to me, “I’m afraid to create my big vision right now. I just think – I’m in such flux. I’m in such transition in my life, that whatever I create right now, I know three to six months from now, it’ll be irrelevant.”

And I said to her, “Whoa. Whoa, whoa. I want you to be ballsy right now. I want you to create a huge future that gets you excited, that brings your energy up, so you can experience the joy of it now knowing it’ll be irrelevant in three to six months, because it’ll be irrelevant for everybody in three to six months! I don’t care who you are.”

Whatever vision you create today will ratchet you up a couple notches. And from that new point of view, when you look out into the world, you’re going to say, “Wait a second. I want something totally different. I want to change it, or I want to adjust it.”

See, a plan is a working, living, breathing document. It’s not set in stone. Goals are not set in stone. Your goals are nothing more than devices to create new experiences for you. Your goals and dreams are about creating experiences for you, whether you accomplish them or not, who cares? It’s who you become in the process that counts.

How Do You Love the Work That You Do?

How do you love the work that you do? So often the work that you are doing doesn’t feel like it is necessarily your life’s purpose. And yet, you were drawn to this work. If you’re interested in finding work that is your life purpose, and you don’t feel like you are there yet, there is a way to get there. You need to actually begin to accept, appreciate, and honor the work that you do.

Where you stand in this moment is the bridge to that ultimate thing that will bring you the fulfillment. In other words, you need the contrast of now to bring about that incredible inspiration that will lead you to the work that is your ultimate work, that work that will bring incredible fulfillment and desire.

I like the way that Napoleon Hill says it. He says there is the seed of equivalent benefit in every adversity. And the mind is often thinking, “Well, this particular job that I’m in now is a bit of an adversity. I don’t like it. It doesn’t feel good. I’m not happy about it.” But it is bringing you to that thing that you want.

So, here’s the trick. Make a list of all the things that are great, wonderful, that work, that you’re excited about, that you’re happy about. In the current position/job/ask that you’re taking on, get connected to the fact that there are good things occurring right now.

Get connected to what is working. Then make a list of all the things that you want it to be, additionally. What else do you want it to be? So yes, these are the things that are good, but there’s more to be good. What else do you want it to be?

If you get connected to what works, you’ll find that more of it works for you. You’ll find that it leads to greater opportunity. If you then identify what else you want it to be, you’ll find that those things that you want it to be will start to come to you. Where you are now is perfect.

It’s leading to where you wanna go. The contrast that you’re experiencing in this moment is leading you to that next level of joy, self-expression and fulfillment that you desire in this endeavor. Do the 10-10 visualization. That’s all this is.

Ten things you love about it, ten things you want it to be. And watch what happens. What you want is coming when you focus on it.

You Need to Fail to Learn

I got this great little saying, and it says, “A kite rises against the wind.” I think it’s so important for each of us to realize that if we’re going to experience joy, fun and enthusiasm while in the success process, we’ve got to recognize that there needs to be contrast. The pushing against, the destruction and the chaos that happens in our life is truly the most important part of our entire success process.

You never learn anything when you succeed. You learn when you’re failing. You learn when you’re falling. You learn when you’re screwing up. So really engage the idea that you’re going to fail. You’re going to fall down. Get up, brush yourself off, learn that lesson, and keep going.

And I want you to practice going like this. Like, woo-hoo, that was awesome! Because it really is awesome that you are learning.

Gratitude Exercise For a Better Life

A great Gratitude Exercise is what I call gratitude, intention and delegation. Every day I have a group of people that I do this with. Every day I will write out what I’m grateful for: I am grateful for my family, I’m grateful for my kids, I’m grateful for my customers. I just start to write out everything that I’m grateful for. Then my intentions are more about how what I want to feel and what I want to experience that day. That’s how I define intentions in this exercise, so I intend to feel creative. I intend to be inspired. I intend to be empowering.

It’s feeling, being, experiencing states and then delegations. A lot of times the things that I want are a little beyond what I know how to create, so what I do is I use a method that I learned from Jerry and Esther Hicks. I delegate them to the universe. I say, “I’m so thankful to the universe for providing me with three opportunities this month to make $50,000 dollars or something better.” I always add “or something better” at the very end, so gratitude, intention and delegation. Me, personally, I like to do it with a group and have a structure where everybody’s sending it to each other. It is much more powerful.

You’re going to find that practicing gratitude is going to make a huge difference. There is one last thing that will make a huge difference in your world. As you’re walking around throughout your day, spend time appreciating the beauty of everything around you. Just that state of appreciating beauty will put you into an incredible state. Try these techniques: gratitude, delegating, and appreciating beauty. They will make a profound difference in your life.

Can Being Grateful Help You Financially?

How can feeling grateful help you financially? Well, the answer is very simple. Being grateful helps you to focus on the things that are working in your business. You will focus on things that make money, which means that you’re going to bolster those things, so people who are grateful find themselves taking the right action. What do I mean by right action? Well, think about it like this: If I am freaked out, pissed off, annoyed, agitated and I’m focused on how nothing is working and it’s not going right, then I’m going to be in a state of fear and doubt. And when I’m in that state, I’m not effective. My brain is not working correctly. I’m not communicating powerful and positive things. I’m not able to take actions in a way that are going to get extremely positive results.

When I’m aligned with the truth, and the truth is that life is good and that there are many aspects of my life that are working, then I say the right thing. I’m in the right place at the right time. Amazing things come out of my mouth and I’m able to make money. Will gratitude help you financially? Absolutely, yes.

Action + Inspiration = Magic

Action + inspiration = magic. Action on its own, well, not much magic comes out of that. Inspiration all by itself, again, not much magic comes out of that. You want incredible, mind-blowing magical experiences. I like to call them unexpected, unexplainable, good fortune. How do you get there?

You need to work to get into an inspired state. What does that mean? Inspiration is imbued with the spirit to do something. So, in order to be imbued with the spirit to do something, you need to work to get all the junk out of your head. This is the work that I do with people on the drunk monkey. Then you’ve got to define the actions that you are going to take. When I’m working with someone who already has a powerful skill set, I support them in getting out of pushing and forcing and manipulating; getting out of the fear that it’s not going to happen. When you do that, you get into this inspired state, and you get clear on the vision.

When you do that, you add your skills, your action and your inspiration; put them together. Bam, things just take off, and you can double, triple, quadruple the kinds of results that you’re getting now. I highly recommend that you focus on what you’re good at and that you remove all of the negativity that is standing in the way of your true inspiration, and magic will happen in your life.
